According to Long Island University in their article “NYS Laws and Penalties Regarding Sex Offenses,” for individuals accused of a sex crime in New York, having an understanding of the different types of offenses can be beneficial. 

“A basic element of all sex offenses is the lack of consent. Without lack of consent there would be no sex offense,” Long Island University said.
